For a long time now, workwear style, chore jackets have been an important part of everyday clothing. They define the look of a person, having so many variations in style and function. Our goal was to recreate the original workwear jacket. That is one of the reasons we have chosen hemp as the fabric for our jackets, adding a modern approach in pattern cutting.
My name is Gergely, and I was 12 years old when I got my first chore jacket from my father, who always wore one. Since then, I have stuck with the style. Through the years, I have had and made several kinds of jackets. I really feel it has become a part of me. That is why we chose to make this piece of clothing.
Let us share with you the brief story of how we finally founded compatible-co after long years of thinking and planning. I met Natasa in 2009 in a movie costume workshop. We fell head over heels in love at first sight and are still going strong after 15 years. In the last 20 years, we have worked separately and together in the costume department on movies, TV series, and theater plays. I am a costume cutter, and Natasa was a fashion stylist who later became a costume supervisor.
Through the years, we had the opportunity to get to know costumes on a wide scale from various periods of different styles of traditional and contemporary fashion. We worked with talented costume designers from all over the world. They taught us how to create unique characters. We set the same goal in compatible-co, mixing our extensive knowledge of fashion history, experience, and own ideas. That is how our own style of work jackets came to life!

All the jackets are designed by us and are made in a sewing factory we have known and worked with for a long time. Fortunately, after long research, we found the desired fabric very close to us: beautifully woven pure hemp fabric, which is available in every color. We are really excited to turn the fabric into cool jackets.
We bought the fabric for four coats to test the designs, then to choose the one we can start our journey with. We played with and tested the fabric for four weeks in the workshop, figuring out what cutting lines, foldings, stitching, and finishing would eventually look good on this kind of textile.
Two jackets went to our fathers, one for Natasa and one for myself. With these samples, we have been testing the abrasion resistance of the fabric and function of the design.
In the last year, we discovered some interesting features that I would like to share with you. Wearing this fabric is truly a delightful experience. It follows the shape of your body, molding on as soft armor/second skin. The fabric is breathable and a very good heat conductor. Because of this feature, the fabric sometimes feels cold.
We have been wearing the prototype jackets for a year, and I can say that they are absolutely resistant. The jackets aged, of course, but time just gives them more character. We created this product because we think you should experience the unique feeling of wearing a hemp chore jacket!
To reduce waste, we are producing a small series of jackets. Our aim is to only produce as many jackets as we can certainly sell, keeping the waste to a minimum. Our one year of wearing the jackets almost every day proves that you will be able to wear them for a long time. We want to stay in charge of the whole process and guarantee that each and every jacket will have the quality we can proudly share with you, while at the same time creating a unique piece of clothing for you!
